VIRTUAL REALITY
What is virtual reality?
A short introduction to the terms and technology referenced throughout the Ebony-VR site.
Virtual reality (VR)
Virtual reality uses interactive software and hardware to create an immersive three-dimensional environment. A headset uses motion sensors to respond to a participant’s movements, with visuals and sound helping create the sense of being elsewhere.
Augmented reality (AR)
Augmented reality adds computer-generated sensory information, such as sound, video, graphics, or location data, to a view of the physical world.
Mixed reality (MR)
Mixed reality combines real and virtual worlds so that physical and digital objects can coexist and interact in real time.
